  • 1.  Chassis type of Server instead of Desktop

    Good %Greeting Time%

I have an issue with my reporting. When I run a report the Model 'OptiPlex 780' has a chassis type of 'Server' instead of Desktop.

I'm not sure how to remedy this, or any other such anomalies that may appear.

    Help please?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,

May you clarify that report do you use -- custom one on some default report? Per my understanding, chassis type collected by inventory based on information in computers registry, so if there is a "server" then report will just refflect that.

    Thank you,

    Alex.

Symantec don't usually say how each individual item of inventory is collected, it's part of their intellectual property. I would expect that chassis type might be from WMI. Do all the Optiplex 780s show "Server"? If so try running "wmic systemenclosure get chassistypes" and look up the number here: "Where can I find what system type my systems are classified as?" https://support.symantec.com/en_US/article.HOWTO10016.html
