  • 1.  Check Software License Compliance Component Example

    Posted Feb 13, 2014 07:37 AM

    Hi All,

I'm wondering if anyone can help with an example or some instruction on how this component should function in Workflow. I'm fairly new to Worklow so apologies if there is already an example or documentation available.

I have Workflow 7.1 installed and have confirmed that I can connect via Create SMP Credentials and update existing Asset data in the CMDB. This works fine.

What I would like to do is retrieve the Compliance value for a given Software License and then use this as part of my workflow. The component Check Software License Compliance seems to provide this and the Result Variable Name should return the Compliance value(?). The problem I'm having is populating the license variable of the Check Software License Compliance component. I know the GUID of a Software License in the CMDB, but how do I get this into the license variable Check Software License Compliance component?

Hope this makes some sense and someone can help.

    Thanks,

    Elliot

    Hi Reena,

thanks for the links but my question is really about using the Check Software License Compliance component in Workflow to then deploy software based on a check of the current license situation.

A thought I had was that I could export one of the ITMS\Asset Management reports on a regular basis and use a Workflow component to read data from the export. This seems like a long way round the problem when it looks like Symantec have provided a component in Workflow to automate this.

    Thanks,
