Hebben we een kind bptm en ouder bptm voor elke job id of beek in Netbackup?

Sorry my english is week.

Do we have a child bptm and parent bptm for each job id or stream in Netbackup?

I was reading the backup process and was bit confused when reading the above statement.

Q: We have a child and parent bptm bptm for each job ID or stream in Netbackup?

Only when the media server is not backing up itself.

Extracts from Appendix A in Troubleshooting Guide:

If the media server backs up a client on a different host, the bptm process on the server creates a child process of itself.

If the media server is backing up itself (server and client on same host), there is no bptm child: bpbkar sends the data directly to shared memory.

Best to go through Appendix A for full understanding of process flow.
There are diagrams that explains the process in detail.

so there will be separate bptm process for each job and its associated child bptm pid  when media server is backing up some other clients.

True?

bptm process is created for each NBU job id?

The bptm process or bpdm process on the server takes the image from shared memory and directs it to the storage media.

most of the NetBackup backup/duplicate jobs need use bptm process. but some jobs like MSSQL/Oracle agent parent jobs should not create bptm process.

Parent job in Activity Monitor has nothing to do with bptm parent job on media server.
