Hiu all.  I know basically nothing about Chromebooks or Chromeboxes, other than hearing that they have no hard drive so can't store data (they're cloud-connected only).  Even this I am dubious about given you need some means of booting the device and I'm guessing it's not like a Cisco router with flash, ROM, and NVRAM combining to store the configs and OS image, lolading them into RAM to run.  But maybe it is, since a 16GB thumdrive is cheap so would take care of the OS image.  I can Google this right now and find out I'm sure but regardless of any of that, here's my question:

Can you install or run SEP on Chrome-devices?  Or if not, what is their method of malware protection?

    Thanks very much.

    These are not supported.

System Requirements for Symantec Endpoint Protection 12.1.6

You can't install local apps so AV is not needed:

And you rely on Chrome to protect against web threats as it has built-in security.

There are not supported by SEP.

It seems it's not completely launched as well. Here they have mentioned project overview: http://www.chromium.org/chromium-os/chromiumos-design-docs/security-overview

Thanks guys.  Just a heads up Cheetan, it turns out Chrome OS and Chomium OS are two differnt things, which I didn't know, one is the open source foundation and the other I guess is Google commercializating it or something since that's what sells on HP and Dell Chrome units.

What's the difference between Chromium OS and Google Chrome OS?https://www.chromium.org/chromium-os/chromium-os-faq#TOC-What-s-the-difference-between-Chromium-OS-and-Google-Chrome-OS-

In any case, without getting into the OS itself as I have no units with me, I know they don't do endpoint security directly installed so that's a start.  I haven't read details but I skimmed over the security model and I see how they consider it secure, but I am sure some proof of concept hacks will be presented on how to defeat them.  Otheriwse they'd be the world's first ever non-hackable computer for 1/2 the cost of any other PC/laptop so I'm sure that's not the case :)

    INteresting subject.  Thanks guys.
