  • 1.  Clean Infected Thunderbird Folders?

Our company uses Thunderbird, which stores its mail in a single large file for each folder. Endpoint is able to find viruses inside of the files, but I can't figure out how to clean them. I can't erase the file - that would erase the whole folder of email. And, I can't figure out which email the virus is associated with, so it can't be erased from Thunderbird. Is there an obvious way to do this that I've missed?

    Thanks

If the email folder isn't big enough, you could personally check the email of the user with the virus. Sort it by attachments.

On the plus side, Mozilla already fixed the bug that lets AVs to delete the file when a virus is detected.

Is the Thunderbird currently set to view items in plain text or with html?

What is the name of the virus?

To allow AV software to scan and quarantine individual email messages in Mozilla Thunderbird, please follow these instructions.

    1. Open Mozilla Thunderbird.
    2. Click on Tools > Options.
    3. Click on the Privacy Tab.
    4. Click on the Anti-Virus tab.
    5. Check the box next to "Allow anti-virus clients to quarantine individual incoming messages."
    6. Click OK.

Correct me if I'm wrong here.

If it's not in the Tools > Options, It could be in the Edit > Preferences.

    Thanks for the quick answers!

mon_raralio: I believe in Windows it is under Tools > Options, in Linux / OS X it is under Edit > Preferences. Thunderbird tries to stick to the menu conventions of the OS, which can be a bit confusing.

Just curious if the procedure actually worked. I haven't read any documentation that Symantec supports Thunderbird.
