  • 1.  Client Behavior for Managed SW Delivery when Package Not Ready Yet

I created a couple software resources in my SMC (SMP 7.1 SP2 MP1.1) then created/enabled the policy for each.  Ran RAAD to have 3 clients do config requests so they'd realize that the new policies were available.  However, didn't realize until later that the packages hadn't propagated to my package server yet.  Running the SMA on each of the clients shows that the "Download package..." step is "In progress".

Should this situation eventually resolve itself without my intervention or do I have to reschedule the job (i.e. the d/l will eventually timeout or won't check again for the existence of the package)?  The packages have since replicated over to my package server although the d/l status remains the same in the SMA of all 3 clients.  It's been about 30 minutes now.

    Hi,

You can use Update Distribution Points functionality, it's designerd for the case you described about.

    Please read: http://www.symantec.com/docs/HOWTO45441

Answering on your second question: If you have short timeout period in policy it can be timeouts and you should reschedule the job letter.

    Regards,

    Dmitri

FYI: Took maybe about an hour but the packages eventually propagated to my package server after which the clients downloaded it and installed the software.  Just had to exercise some patience I guess.
