Client Commuter Name change does not reflect on SEP Cloud version.

    Hello.

    We are using the cloud hosted version of SEP. We have installed the Agent on all our laptops (win 7 and win 8). Things are working fine.

    However, we are changing the Hostname of the laptops to follow a nomenclature. We are doing this at individual laptop level and then rebooting the laptop after hostname change. This is a workgroup environment.

    However, the new hostname does not reflect in our management console (this is hosted on Symantec Cloud).

    I am still able to trigger a threat scan from the management console, meaning , the communication is fine. However, under "Computers" tab, it shows all old hostnames and Aliases.

    Please suggest what I might be missing here.

    You need to Edit computer name

    Renaming a computer in the management console

    A newly installed Protection Agent uses the computer host name for its identity in the management console. Often times, an organization's computer naming scheme can be cryptic. If you want a more easily recognized name within the management console, you can change the name that is displayed for the computer. You do not rename the computer, but you change the computer alias that is displayed.

    To rename a computer using its Computer Alias

    1. On the top of any page, click the Computers tab.
    2. Click the name of the computer you want to rename.

    The Computer Profile page appears.

    1. Click Change Computer Alias on the right side of the screen.
    2. Edit the computer alias, and then click Save.

    The Computer Profile page refreshes and displays the new name of the computer
