  • 1.  Client computer HDD not encrypted after install generated pack from Encryption Management Server?

    Hello,

    As i'm new to  Encryption Management Server. Our company want to deploy encryption to all laptop users so we ask Symantec for evaluation Encryption Management Server and here is the note from the evaluation key:

    Symantec PGP Universal Server includes Universal Server and the management of Gateway Email and Desktop clients, including Desktop Corporate and Portable.

     

    it was installed on a ESXi 4.1 vm. I have created new consumer policy to encrypt client machine immediately after install client pack. But when the client install that generated pack they do nothing, i click the PGP icon on the client screen it tell me i could not find the server??

    As we only need to encrypt entire client computers and manage these comps from this server. We do not want to do these thing for emails and take this part out of domain-linked if possible .Are there any simple solution please give me a hand.Any helps will be appreciated.

    When you generated the install, did you customise the policy and select "auto select policy"?  

     

    Is this Encryption Server synced with AD at all?

    Hi Alex, Thank you for your reply,

    I created a policy to get clients encrypt immediately after install. The Encryption Server is not synced with AD as i want it to work seperate in our system, we only need to encrypt client hdd and manage these computers.No email or other feature enable, is it ok Alex?

    In that case did you manually specify the policy when you generated the policy?

    Yes i left everything as default, only edit the " encrypt after install the generate package...." then save as a new policy, im also specify that policy when generate the package but nothing happend to the client. Any suggestion?

    on that client if you right click on the tray icon, go to view pgp log.  Change it to whole disk and change it to verbose - what do you have in there?

    Hello Alex.

    After client install there is no PGP icon on desktop and tray. Although it tell me to restart the pc to take effect.

    When restarted it has PGP shreder splashed on desktop and disappered then. I could only found PGP in Start -> Program
