  • 1.  Client Computer won't connect

I have one computer on the network that won't connnect to the Symantec Endpoint Protection.  The Client Computer is running xp pro.  I have tried what the tech said on the phone, but still it can't be seen by the SEP.  It is seen by the network, but when I connect to SEP and ask it to locate unmanaged computers --giving it's IPaddress, it's computer name, etc still can't connect.  Anybody got a suggestion?

    Hi,

sorry, it is not clear if in this client you cannot deploy SEP or if SEP is already installed but unable to connect to the SEP Manager. I guess the first.

    Regards,

    Hi

Check the basic things like the windows firewall, check if there is any proxy

If no issues with that just generate the sylink.log and paste it here

You may follow the following link to generate the sylink.log

Also for the communication you may refer to the following link

Just in case you are not able to deploy SEP in that client via the "find unmanaged computers" feature... don't stress yourself too much.
Go in admin > install packages > export package, and put the generated setup.exe in a shared folder, then run it in your client and that's all.

    Cheers,

Thanks, I uninstalled the old version (10.x) and added the new by way of the export package.  I've been trying the "syslink replacement" and  "find unmanage computers", but to no avail for weeks.  It now says it there is still a problem (may not be installed correctly or something), but at least the version is correct and the virus dates are updated.  I'll let it run tonight and see what it does in the morning.  Thanks for your help --I spent hours on hold and talking to a tech and which fixed most of the computers, but this one has been a hold out.
