This issue has been solved. See solution.

 Hi,
With the client push method for archiving pst's in enterprise vault is it possible that if multiple people use the same pc that a user logged on might have another users pst file pushed to their archive incrooectly. how does it determine who owns psts that are not associated with the outlook profile. when the user logs on I assume it searches the pc as per the policy how does it then determine who owns a pst?
Note: My client is concerned that PSTs wil be incorretly placed in users archives

Patrick, If pst marking is

Patrick,

If pst marking is enabled (default) in the the user's EV policy and the EV client addon is installed on the host then each time a user starts Outlook EV will "mark" all opened PSTs (ie PSTs that show up in Outlook) as belonging to that user.  If another user then does the same thing this new user's mark will overwrite the other.

So last in wins.

PSTs not opened in outlook will not be marked.

PST policy can be configured to search the entire HDD or just the Docs & Settings directory.

In you scenario it is very possible the PST could be associated with the wrong archive.
