Client driven PST migration is migrating all PSTs
Updated: 16 Oct 2010 | 6 comments
Hi All,
I have EV 8.0 SP3 Server on windows 2008 64bit & client driven PST migration is running.
But now I am facing a strange problem that EV has started migrating all the PSTs which are resing on users machine even though these PSTs are not configured with users profile.
Like user all PSTs which are configured with profile had been migrated few days before but now EV again start searching & migrating PSTs which are keeping on machine's (any drive). Now user can see these migrated PSTs in the Virtual Vault & also it is showing EV console.
Any suggetion would be appriciated.
Thanks in advance
Deepak

Thanks Rahul,
But I think this KB id will no work in my situation.
User's PSTs are already migrated few day before & migrared all PSTs which are configure with user profile.
But now EV has again started migrating of PSTs which is not configure with user's profile. Users have kept these PSTs for some other purpose.
Have some faced this kind of problem so please help me to get rid of this.
Thanx once again
Deepak
In the PST migration Policy
In the PST migration Policy ...Under the migration tab you have the option to restrict search to the pst under the users documents and settings

Yes Rahul, I have restricted
Yes Rahul, I have restricted to search PST in users documents & setting.
Now It is searching & migrating all the PSTs which is residing in any drive & any location even documents & setting also.
Thanx in advance
Deepak
IF you have access the PST
IF you have access the PST fromt he outlook profile then it would get migrated ... As when the migration run it look for the PST in the outlook profile as well as on the harddrive ... Creating a new outlook profile for the user would be a workaround which you can try ...

Hi Deepak Kumar, I am faced
Hi Deepak Kumar,
I am faced with the same issue. As I understand it the EV client driven migration will search the registry for PST Files. If a user has previously opened a pst file with outlook and then closed it, the reference for the PST file can still remain in the users regesitry hive which is why the EV client finds it (because the users registry hive is part of the users profile).
That's how I understand it, if an EV god can confirm/deny that would help us both.
