Client-Driven PST Migration problems Error 0x80004005

Created: 23 Nov 2012 • Updated: 26 Nov 2012

Hi,

EV 9.02.

I'm currently working to migrate a number of PST files using Client-Diven migration, for the most part this is working quite well however I've hit a problem with a number of PST whereby the console on the EV server reports "Migration failed" and an error "Error 0x80004005" is shown in the failure text.  The full error is "PST migration of \\PCNAME\C$\Folder\File.pst: Error 0x80004005".  At the same time the following is logged in the client log: -

PSTMIG: Starting upload of Unicode PST: C:\Folder\File.pst
22/11/2012 20:25:27.446[5960]: PSTMIG:    File Id = 68, Last Item = 31660, Last Chunk = 81
22/11/2012 20:25:27.510[5960]: HttpQueryInfo text is 'OK' status code is '200'
22/11/2012 20:25:27.511[5960]: Body is <?xml version='1.0' encoding='utf-8'?><ERROR Type='ComException' Operation='Page_Load' Id='36' Message='Error HRESULT E_FAIL has been returned from a call to a COM component.'/>
22/11/2012 20:25:27.511[5960]: HttpQueryInfo text is 'OK' status code is '200'
22/11/2012 20:25:27.511[5960]: PSTMIG: Exception caught in ChunkFinishedMigrating
22/11/2012 20:25:27.512[5960]: PSTMIG: Chunk has not migrated. Retry in 1 minute

This error repeats every minute.

In the above example I can see the chunk file being referred to in the Temporary files folder and PST Holding Folder.

All of the PST's that this happens with were in the process of migrating, i.e. a number of chunks have been completed and then the error occurs.  Other migrations have completed over the same time period sucessfully.  For all of the PST's that the error has occurred with I've set the PST migration back to Ready to copy but no further progress has been made.  I've done all the usual things like reboot the PC's in question, etc but this again has made no difference.

I'm struggling to find any suggestions on how to resolve.

Suggestions very welcome!

Neil
