client driven PST Scan on clients locks all folders on system until outlook restarted
Updated: 23 May 2010 | 2 comments
so we've made our way into PST Migration at my company now, and a few weeks into it we've discovered something not so cool. When outlook does the search for PST files (Client driven Migration), it locks every folder on the computer and outlook.exe has several thousands of handles tied to it. So we cant rename any folder on the computer for example. if we check why, the outlook.exe process has it locked.
The work around is just to close and open outlook again to clear all the locks... but that's just not right. for me to reproduce I just go to the registry and delete the LastPSTSearch key or wait the few days for it to rescan.
Known issue?
we're running 2007 SP4.
Thanks:)

Hi Mr_Anderson
That's something support needs to know, so please open a call with SYMC.
I personally haven't seen this behaviour yet.
Cheers
Michel

yeah, I've had a case open for 2 weeks now. They are still trying to figure this out.
