Client Inventory Troubleshooting

The Hardware and Software Inventory feature is also referred to as the "Client Inventory." The Client Inventory feature is based on information obtained from Microsoft's Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) feature. The accuracy of the data returned by WMI depends on the version of the client Operating System, the service pack installed, and the version of WMI installed.

To use the Symantec Ghost Client Inventory, each client computer must have WMI Core 1.5 installed. This is supplied with Windows 2000/Me/XP. By default, WMI is not included in the Windows 9x/NT4 operating systems. The WMI package for Windows 9x/NT4 is available from Microsoft's Web site or from the Symantec Ghost 8.0/8.2 CD in the \Extras\WMI folder.
