It's not needed to stop any services on server. The sylink stops the smc service on remote clients
After replacing sylink file also few clients machines are showing offline
kindly give the solution for this issue we using SEP 12.1RU1
can you post the sylink.log? can you check the link to troubleshoot?
Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager 12.1 Communication Troubleshooting
See the communication port which you are given is proper with earlier or what
ping and telnet is working from client side and server side
Replace sylink file to communicate with sepm server
Can you check whether they are able to communicate by pinging the server
Also, make sure you didn't put the server into a new place in the SEP tree. If you did, you might find that a client is in there twice with one active and the other offline. I've done this myself.
After installing symantec manager
Please check the Firewall settings on both the 2008 machines. If its enabled try disabling it on both machines and check whether they are able to communicate with each other if yes then configure the firewall for the endpoint ports.
.Copy the sylink.xml file from the SEPM machine. The location is C:\Program Files\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager\Data\outbox\Agent\Click any of the numerical folder\Copy the sylink from there. Save it in any media or share it in network.
Go to the client machine where the server is offline.
Go to Run\Type smc -stop
Paste the sylink.xml in C:\Program Files\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection
It will ask u for the replacement of the file, just replace it.
Go to Run\Type smc -start.
Now check the server name.
In the management console you may not find these clients in the desired grouop, just check the default group and move them in desired group.
I think Issue are resolved Mohan G kumar not response after 15th April 2012 .
After Kashish Comments for sylink.log Mohan not provide any update
Thanks In Advance
