client is not validated to perform the requested operation

Hi, my master server and media servers are all NBU 7.1 on Windows 2008 R2. I want to test redirected restore on a few clients (all are NBU 7.1 client, OS is Windows 2003). When I started BAR on one client (client A), in Specifiy client for restores, I select a different client (client B). When I click Select for Restore, I received an error which said "client is not validated to perform the requested operation". In the master server, I have already added a file named as No.Restrictions in <install_path>\NetBackup\db\altnames.
Are there any other settings that need to set? Thanks in advance.

Check No.Restrinctions file
How did you add No.Restrictions? By Explorer?
Check actual file name and file type of No.Restrinctions. I suspect that you created No.Restrinctions.txt by explorer. I sometime do such mistake on Windows Server 2008.
To avoid such mistake, It is better to create file from command prompt like below.
> copy NUL No.Restrictions

Hi Yasuhisa, thanks for your reply. I recreated the file by using the method in your post above but it still does not work. I received the same error message.
Can you post output?
Can you post output of dir command in master's altnames folder?
Also check below.

Hi Yasuhisa, the outputs are as follows:

File name seems correct.
Please review path name of No.Restrinctions, policy type, and restore type. Also check you run BAR as administrator.
If you can not found anything, create enable bprd debug logging, and look into it.

The path, policy type and
The path, policy type and restore type are all correct. I will try to enable the bprd log. Btw, is there any registry settings in the master server or media server or the client that control this setting?
permission of alternate restore is file basis
Permission of alternate restore is file basis, and there no alternatives and relatives in registry.
Or you say about debug logging?
Debug logging for legary processes is controled by existance of folder. If output folder exists, NetBackup write debug logging into that folder. For bprd, create <install_path>\NetBackup\logs\bprd folder in your master server.
Also you can set logging level from host properties. It affected both legacy logging and unified logging, but internally both are stored into different place.
Level for legacy logging is stored into registry - HKLM\Software\Veritas\NetBackup\CurrentVersion\config\VERBOSE, an level for unified logging is stored into nblog.conf.

The client has multiple
The client has multiple interfaces: one NIC for backup LAN, one NIC for prod LAN. Will this cause any issues?
Check Host Properties ->
Check Host Properties -> Master -> Client Attributes.
There is a global setting to allow client browse and restore and can also be set for each client.
Please ensure that you have bprd log folder on the master for troubleshooting purposes.
NBU needs to be restarted after creating folder.

Thanks a lot for all your replies. We have resovled this with the help of Symantec support. Our master servers are cluster master servers so the No.Restrictions file should be added in the install directory in cluster disks instead of local disk.
Thanks for the update
It always helps if you share ALL relevant info - such as the small detail of clustered master!
Did it not occur to you that NetBackup\db\ folder on local drive looked a bit 'empty'?
