I had to rebuild my SEP Management server.  Do I need to reinstall my clients or is there a way to refresh them to the new SEP Mangement server?  The only think different on the SEP MAN server is the site name, the IP and server name hasn't changed.

Thanks

Hi,

I think this could help you:

Create custom client install settings that specify removal of previous client-server communication settings, then push the Endpoint client with those settings.

Create custom client install settings

Log on to the manager you wish to have managing the client or clients.
Click the Admin button, then click install packages.
Click Client Install settings, then click Add client install settings... This will bring up the "Add Client Install Settings" dialog.
In the name field type "Restore Communication" and then select the radio button at the bottom of the page under "Upgrade Setting" that states "Remove all previous logs and policies, and reset the client-server communications settings."  Click OK

Push a client

Export a package using these Client Install Settings, and then push out to clients.

Note: This procedure will only overwrite the Sylink.xml on a previously new install of SEP (MR0, MR1) that has the Program Files in the Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection folder.  If the client was a migration from a SAV version the Sylink.xml will not overwrite as the SEP Files are located in \Program Files\Symantec Antivirus folder.  In this instance you will need to manually drop the Sylink.xml from the created package and do smc -stop and smc -start or use SylinkDrop and use the Sylink.xml from the newly created package.

This link describes how to reconnect the clients to a SEPM without redeploying new client packages:

Hi

The best way to restore the communication between the server and clients is use the SylikDrop application that you can find in Symantec_Endpoint_Protection_11.0_AllWin_EN_CD2\TOOLS\NOSUPPORT\SYLINKDROP , with this application update the sylink file and  you can send a script using Active directory to avoid send the deploy in all  clients.
