Client task scheduler with the logged in user as target
Created: 29 Aug 2011 | 2 comments
Hey there,
Does anyone know if its possible to create a client task scheduler and pin it to run based on a specific user?
The cenario is that i have a customer that wants to shutdown computers in a specific schedule based on the user logged on the machine, for overtime control.
Says a user name Daniel can only use the computer from 8am to 6pm and on all other schedules the computer must be turned off if the user turn it on manually. I know i can configure a client task schedule to run a shutdown task on the computer duting a specific window and make it check every 1 minute.
But the catch is, can i do this using the logged in user as a target? instead of the computer or a computer filter?
Thanks in advance

Active Directory
In any case, you want a user-based policy. Configure the schedule similarly to how you would configure your task's schedule, but assign the policy to the user(s). I'd create one policy per blackout window, then add users as necessary.
AD can restrict logon times, by the way: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/816666
You could use it in conjunction with the Altiris policy.

Tried that
Mclemson,
Thanks for the quick reply, i already imported it via the Active Directory import tool all the users, and create the policy to shutdown the computers in a specific window, but when applied to the user, the client just don´t get the policy, when i do a Configuration Request with the logged in user...
Any ideas?
