This issue has been solved. See solution.

Hi,

I recently upgraded the netbackup solaris clients. Successful client (solaris) installation  need arround 2.5 GB of space

I used same binaries which I  used for Master and media server upgrades.

I Just want to know whether Symantec has release any seprate binaries for client (7.5..0.4) which occupies less

space on client.

Accurately, client update only requires NB_CLT.7.5.0.4.tar, whereas server requires NB_CLT.7.5.0.4.tar and
NB.7.5.0.4.platform.tar.
If you don't have enough sapce on clients to extract NB_CLT.7.5.0.4.tar, consider remote install from master server using update_clients command.

I am curious to know which NBU version you were upgrading from.

As from 7.x, all agents and options are included in the Client binaries.
The NB_CLT.7.5.0.4.tar file is quite big because ALL Unix/Linux versions are included.

As per Yasuhisa's excellent post, the update_client script can be used on the master to push-install updated binaries from the /usr/openv/netbackup/client/<hardware>/<os> folder.

See this TN: http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH178490

Also remember that upgrades tar the old binaries and store them in case you need to do rollback and this applies to LiveUpdate as well. I have a machine that has gone through two upgrades and it has 3GB in rollback files

/usr/openv/pack # du -h
1.4G    ./NB_CLT_7.5.0.5/save
1.4G    ./NB_CLT_7.5.0.5
1.4G    ./NB_CLT_7.5.0.3/save
1.4G    ./NB_CLT_7.5.0.3
316M    ./NB_CLT_7.5/save
316M    ./NB_CLT_7.5
3.0G    .
