    Hello everyone,

I have a question: I have been using Symantec for a while now, with absolutely no problems. It works great, however, I just recently received two new computers into my domain, and I need to push Symantec to them. They are a Windows XP Professional, and a Windows 7 Professional computers, both brand new. Both computers have their firewalls turned off, and are set up correctly on the domain, and ready for Symantec.

When I go into the Symantec Server Console, and I go through the client/remote install like normal, everything seems to work. It has the progress bar, and pushes the antivirus to their computers, with no problem, but the problem is that the antivirus never shows up!

I have waited even up to a week, and have restarted the machines, but the antivirus just doesn't get installed on their computers. I don't know how to troubleshoot this, as I don't receieve any error messages.

I was wondering if there was a way to manually give them the antivirus, if I can't push it from the Server Console for some reason. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Are you installing with Admin rights? You can create an EXE file and then copy the file from a network share.

Create a customized package from the SEPM and copy it directly to the HDD of the new machine. Try running the msi file and let us know whether it helped.

Or else when you create an package from the SEPM choose Interactive method of installation which will pop up some error on the client machine as and when the setup is interrupted.

Thanks for the quick responses! I am installing with admin rights, just to let you know, however I can't give this a shot until around Thursday, but I will try it then, and if it was a success, I will let you know. Thanks!

    Woodsj25,

Microsoft does have an official Windows 7 Support Forum located here http://tinyurl.com/9fhdl5 . It is supported by product specialists as well as engineers and support teams. You may want to also check the threads available there for additional assistance and guidance.

Thanks for the responses. I just ended up pushing it manually to the clients. I haven't had time to actually research why this happened, as everything you guys had mentioned was correct, and I was doing it correctly. But luckily it was a small company, and so doing it manually was very easy. Thanks again!
