Howdy all, got a few problems here, hoping you can help.

I've been using GSS 1.1 for about a month now to manage my network of lab computers, I deployed the client to a lab of 30 machines, was able to make an image, and deploy them to the machines with no problems. We recently decided to purchase some licenses of Deep Freeze by Faronics for the lab as well and planned on using Ghost to deploy it. When the time came to deploy the right files, none of the computers listed in my machine group would respond. None of their icons had the network line in them, even though I could ping them and even remote to them.

I have since upgraded to Ghost 2.0, since the upgrade was given to us and have discovered that the problem is still there. But even worse, I decided to remove (uninstall) the client from a handful of computers and then remove them from their machine group. I then intended to reinstall the client, hoping it would pick the connection back up.

Unfortunately, that was not the case. The clients don't appear anywhere in the machine groups. To give you an idea of how my network is made up. I work for a school system, each campus has their own ip range starting at 10.1.x.x and going up to 10.16.x.x. My server is at 10.1.x.x and the Lab machines are at 10.12.x.x. I have a few clients here at 10.1.x.x that seem to be responding fine, it seems that the 10.12.x.x's don't wanna play along. Ghost 2.0 is running on Windows Server 2003

Any ideas you can provide or extra information would be most appreciated.

If you require some extra info, let me know.

Well, that's a complicated situation. You've got three things going on there, and it's possible that there are three different sets of problems to match.

Since you've upgraded to GSS2, probably the best thing to do is to send me a zipped-up (it's a big file but it compresses really well) copy of the NGSERVER.LOG file from your console installation. That contains a record of interactions between the console and the clients that should give me some insight into what's going on (and perhaps more importantly what isn't going on) in your install.

If you can, send the file to nigel dot bree at gmail dot com and I'll let you know what I learn from eyeballing it.
