  • 1.  clients not rebooting after task has started

    Hi
I'm working from a printed guide "Installing a boot partition"

I've followed it as much as possible. Its had some differences. I am currently using version 2.5.

I've loaded the client on a new clean working laptop.

    I've created a boot disk

    I've pulled an image.

I've created a boot partition and have sent it to other laptop clones

I've even loaded the "base windows xp image" on the clones successfully with individual configurations.

Now the problem comes when I run a task to re-image all the computers. I execute that task and they get the pop up warning about the computer may be rebooting in X seconds.

Then nothing........ they just sit there and never reboot and about 20 minutes later the server times out the task.

any help is greatly appreciated. I'm at a loss.

    Thanks,
    Rich S

    Rich S,

Open the console and go to View > Task Log. Double-click the task that failed, then double-click the step that failed. What is the error message?

File(s) updated on client - failed

I am running a much older version of ghost in another network here. When I performs the re-image task, all of those machines reboot into the ghost screen. For some reason this new "test" set on the new software is not re-booting. They all get the popup saying a reboot may be happening in the next few seconds and starts the count down...... but then nothing. They don't reboot, the server is sitting there waiting for clients to connect. Then after the time out, the above error is what we get.

What operating system are the machines booting into?
It looks as if the reboot is being reached but for some reason the reboot process is not able to restart the machine.

Have you tried one of the laptops from the new test "set" on your old environment, and if so, does the same hardware reboot OK?
