    After installing the latest 11.0.4014.26, all of my clients will not update the definitions unless  I run live update from the SEPM. Everything was fine before installing the new release.

    If you did, you may have broken the communications between the clients and SEPM.  If that is the case, you will have to run the Sylink utility or reinstall the clients (with the comm reset option enabled).

    I have the same problem.  I installed v11.0.4014.26 and my clients haven't updated since.  I spent 4 hours on the phone with Gurdeep Gill from tech support before he gave up and told me that letting it sit overnight might fix the problem.  The clients are communicating with my SEPM, but the Manager won't get any updated 32-bit def's after 4-15-09.

    hi david is you manager communicating with the liveupdate site?? have you checked that? and also did you have a clean installation or just upgraded it?

    Plesase check the Windows Firewall is off or not. If not then disable the winodws firewall and then try to update.

    u did't know the actual problem , client and server is communicating each and other. i thing yours communication is break. so please see very carefully in the communication part.

    please download rapid release ".jdb" file & updade your protection manager. then update ur all clients.

    So, while working with Tech Support that last time, the technician removed several folders because he thought that the definitions had become corrupted, preventing the manager from getting the latest 32-bit definitions.  This caused a few problems of its own (in my opionion).  After he did this we started to get an error indicating that a previous installation of some Norton product was interfering with the processes.  Knowing that my SEPM was installed on this fresh server, and that no other Norton product was ever on this server, I wasn't so sure.  So after he gave in for the night, I went back and restored the folders that he deleted, and ran LU again.  It updated with the correct version for the virus definitions.  When I arrived this morning, the machines in my domain were all reporting that they'd received the latest definitions.  Now I'm just waiting to see if it happens on its own for a few days before calling this one fixed.

    The client are communicating with the SEPM and no I did not uninstall previous version just updated. SEPM shows the latest definitions it is just not making it to the clients unless you do a manual live update thru the SEPM then and only then will the clients get the newest definitions.

    Well,
    The definitions have updated once since my little restore last night.  A few clients have updated twice in 24 hours.  I'm still holding my breath.  Gurdeep Gill was nice enough to actually call me back this afternoon to check on my status.  That was a considerate of him. 

    I realize this is probably a novice issue, but one of my clients is in a remote location that is on a different subnet.  Previously, that client updated, right up until that subnet changed their static IP address range from a Class B to 10.0.0.0.  Now I can't communicate with it at all.  I'm looking at creating different locations, but I don't think I can get updates to it without another server-type device in that NAT subnet.

    Can you add a task on task scheduler to run the file

    LUAdmin.exe /s <---?

    Can you also post liveupdate logs here?

    yes you can schedule a task to run LUALL.exe automatically

    That is all fine and great but what is the root cause of the clients not receiving updates but the manager is?

    Hi, do you have a green dot on the clients? This means that it is managed and will receive updates from SEPM.

    Has there been any change in proxy settings lately.
    If it srill doesn't work
    Re-install liveupdate and re-register liveupdate with lucatalog.exe.

    All  clients have a green dot, no proxy changes as we do not use one.

    On the liveupdate settings policy, is there a check that clients will use SEPM for the updates?

    Yes, use default management server is checked.

    So sir, your problem now is that SEPM is updating regularly, but the clients doesn't receive the updates?

    Is this happening on all clients?

    Can you double check on the Liveupdate Policy and re-assign them to the clients.

    Another test also that you can do is to create a policy for scheduled scans, then check if the client scans. (This is just to check if the policies applied are working)
