Clients trying to download packages from another site server

Hi, we have this wierd issue where the clients are trying to download some packages not from the main source, but from a particular site server

    Here are some details

    1. Altiris 7.6 HF3 on Windows Server 2012 RD STD
    2. NS has a presented share which is used as the Software Library
    3. We removed task services from NS since we had issues with deploying images (Images were being tried to pull from NS which is
         not a package/deployment server)
    4. We tagged NS to a site server (Say SiteServer1) closest to it
    5. Now some machines in different sites are trying to download packages from SiteServer1 even though they are connected to their local
site server and the local server has the packages
    6. I have recreated the codebases completely by clearing the DB and also the snapshots

I have a case open but we are not going anywhere. Anyone seen issues similar to this?

    Hi huseinm,

    1. Your Site(s) contain correct subnet(s) and according to list of subnets you have appropriate list of Site Server(s) in this Site (which will maintain managed client computers which are on the same sub-net(s).) ?

    2. "Manually Assigned Agents" settings for Site(s) and Site Server(s) - Maybe there is some resource targets are manually assigned on separate Site or Site Server, which overrides to work only with clients which are on same subnet(s) and serves other clients from different subnet(s) ?

    3. Is there any encompassed subnet(s) in this Site and therefore some clients are trying to download packages from not their local Site Server(s)?

    • About encompassed subnet(s) from SMPHelp:

You need to assign each subnet to the appropriate site. By default, any encompassed subnets (a subnet whose IP range is wholly contained within another subnet) are automatically assigned to the same site. However, you can manually override subnet encompassment by explicitly assigning an encompassed subnet to a different site. By default, encompassed subnets are displayed under their parent subnets in the left pane. However, when an encompassed subnet is manually assigned to a different site from its parent, it is displayed under the site to which it is assigned

    Thanks,

    IP.
