Is it possible to have SEP client with a different version and SEP Manager having a different version.

At present we have SEPM 11.0 MR2 (Manager) and SEP 11.0 MR2 Clients.

We have just installed a SEPM MR4 MP2 on a new physical server. Now instead of re-installing all clients, which are about 100, is it OK if we just shutdown the old server SEPM 11.0 MR2 and replace the sylink.xml file in all clients, which is generated from a SEPM MR4 MP2?

SEPM and SEP are backward compatible.
Any version SEPM and can handle any version of SEP.
But it is always advised to have a higher/Similar version of SEPM than the SEP clients.. as it was with SAV

You should be able to have clients running RU5 and a server with MR2MP2.  The worst I've seen (in the past) from running different versions was logging missing from the database because the server didn't understand what the client was sending.
