Hi There

Using Netbackup to bakup current active partition, all running OK, for some unexplicable reason for the last two weeks, the clock is showing on all archived items. Delete item after abckup set and using archive bit for the partition.

Scratching my head as to what the cause may be - nothing changed to my knowledge.

Help Please

Many thanks

Pat

Patrick I suspect that your

Patrick

I suspect that your pre/post scripts do not work as expected.
In EV8, when using archive bit, it does only check the files when the following happens:

- Restart of the Storage Service
- "Clearing" of Backup mode

So, could you try the following:

- Set your Vault Store into Backup mode
- Remove the Vault Store Backup mode

Then, EV should check the files if the archive bit was reset, and then removes the clock icons.

Cheers
Michel

If you are using EV8 you

If you are using EV8 you should also make sure that any SIS parts are also secured, as the primary .DVS file will not be marked as fully secured until all the SISparts associated are backed up too.

I just had a look. The

I just had a look. The Post-Processing queue would be the one responsible for it, and this is the "A1".

A5 is for "normal" mailbox archiving.
A5 queue growing means your archiving window is not big enough to go trough all mailboxes and archive the eligible content.

I'm sorry, I currently don't have further ideas on what to check :(
It may sound trivial, but have you just tried to reboot the server? :)

This is nothing EV did. I

This is nothing EV did.
I suspect those are leftovers from an Update where the person who did the update copied the database for safety purposes.

Hi Patrick, You should, at

Hi Patrick,

You should, at least, have the EnterpriseVaultDirectory database available to you.  If this is not visible, then this would be your problem.  This will require a restore of that DB and associated Vault Store DB's.  Once restored you would have to run the EVSVR utility to replace missing items...

Patrick, after I revealed my identity, I sent a crack team of SAS commandos, undercover, to fix your EV server......

Please mark as a solution if this fixed your issue?  ;)

Ok, so the "solution" to this

Ok, so the "solution" to this was the SAS team? I understand it's a funny but it's not what the "mark as solution" is really for...

You never mentioned which version of EV you are running and this is fundamental with regard to how backup works.

In EV2007 we would put the services into readonly mode, or turn them off - whichever option you would effectively restart the Storage Service at some point. By doing this we then invoke StorageFileWatch process which is responsible for traversing the WatchFile table and then checking the storage files have been backed up......

In EV8 we don't need to do this as we now have BackupMode.

the fact that you said restarting the services got it working may be the key in an EV2007 environment, but what backup schedule did you have in place? what storage system are the EV files being held on etc??? It's not just a case of "I have pending items" - the more info you give in a question the better....

Thanks,
