  • 1.  Clone Windows with the utility Windows Backup

    Hi All,

I use the Windows utility "Backup and Restore" to clone Windows installation. In particulare I backup Windows installation and I restore this image on other machines with identical hardware configuration. I have read on the following post that exists a Symantec utility (ClientSideClonePrepTool.exe) that prepares the client for cloning but I don't use sysprep.

    http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=HOWTO54706

Is there a way to clone Windows with "Backup and Restore" without that cloned clients (with SEP 12.1.4112.4156) have duplicate identifiers?

    Thanks

Can I use the tool "ClientSideClonePrepTool" also if I make the backup with the Windows 7 utility "backup and restore" without using sysprep utility?

In this case, are those steps correct?

    1) I execute the tool ClientSideClonePrepTool

    2) execute the backup with the Windows 7 utility "backup and restore"

    3) restore the backup on a second client

    4) ...finally SEP works fine on both machines

    Thanks
