    Hello everyone,

    <u1:p></u1:p>

Just some background on our system...We are running Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager version: 12.1.2 <u1:p></u1:p>

We have been having issues with our cluster environment ...we have servers losing connection between each other. We have opened up cases with Microsoft and they are pointing the finger at our AV. However we recently resolve a cluster issue due to a server account authentication issue...Symantec took a good bit of blame on that one, even though the client was fully uninstalled from all the servers. The client uninstall didn't seem to resolve the issue...but the windows account issue did! So I'm having a hard time trying to figure out what the AV would be doing to cause problems?

Now we are having a similar issue with our Exchange environment...once again two nodes are not communicating and Microsoft is again pointing the finger at Symantec blocking traffic. However....we DO NOT have the Firewall installed or running on any of our clients. I can't find anything related to this in my research....actually the only thing that comes up is issue with the firewall/firewall policy.

Has anyone else experienced any issues similar to this?

You have posted in the Veritas Cluster forum. Are you running a Veritas Cluster?
Or a Microsoft Cluster and your problem is with Symantec Endpoint Protection?

If your issue is with the latter, I can move this post to the Symantec Endpoint Protection forum:  https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/security/forums/endpoint-protection

    Let us know...

The firewall component of SEP is called network threat protection, if you dont have the component installed the policy will not do any harm

with SEP on MS exchange, all the required folders / files are excluded automatically.

You can try removing SEP and try troublehsooting the issue as you did with SQl

    Please follow this document

Installing a Symantec Endpoint Protection (SEP) client to a cluster server

I have read the documentation in the link...I came across it when we had the previous issues, thank you.

I do have a question regarding the firewall...I have the network threat proctection installed on many clients across the network. However no FW policy is turned on....

So if I have this fuction installed but no policy turned on for it...it can still cause issues?
