Hi,

Woult it be possible to post the CMDB Solution Database Schema, similarly to the "Altiris AMS and CMS Database Schema" document posted in the Altiris KB article # 25975:

https://kb.altiris.com/display...?aid=25975&r=0.8281519

In addition, is there an updated version of the above document dated 21-Aug-2006?

Thanks,

Peter

DB Schema availability would really aid in using these tools!!

Here, Here!!

It would be great if we could get access to the database schemas for these tools!!

IDEAS tab

That is a good suggestion. You might want to put that up on the IDEAS tab to try and get some traction on it. On the users tab, others have an opportunity to agree/disagree with suggestions made there so it does help to post ideas to it.

Excellent idea

knowing SQL is only half the battle, you need to know the schema to be most successful. I'm sure you could run a query to pull it out, however having it in a handy reference guide is much easier (even if you have to sign an NDA to get it). Please follow the suggestions and put it on the ideas tab, you'll have my vote!

Feature Request for CMDB/Asset 7 Database Schema

I was just at a client site last week where we submitted a feature request to have a database scheme provided for CMDB and Asset 7 (once released).  Please subscribe to this KB article as this is how Altiris gauges interest in a feature request.

The root of the matter though is...

The Altiris DB is not really a true relational DB, it is more like a collection of tables with common attributes from each one to help facilitate JOIN's and such through queries and the console's front-end.

This has been the same way since the 5.x days and is also true for their RS products as well.

If you were to open up the Altiris DB and open the design of the database, there is no diagram shoing the relation of one table to another.

Granted it may be great to see the tables and the data each contains but it will not show the actual relationship of each table to one another.
