  • 1.  CMS 7.1sp1 Remote Control Support For OSX Lion

I work at a public university, so obviously we have a LOT of Apple hardware.  One of the motivators to move from Ol' Faithful (altiris NS 6.x) was to support Windows 7 and Lion.  There is an article that says PC-anywhere for Mac was a Universal Binary, not an Intel binary,

I need to be able to deliver on the promises our sales reps and the product literature made because our Executives have a timeline based on that promise.  In fairness Lion hadn't been released yet.

We're still in the same boat though.  VNC does not give us the security, the auditing, the session recording and the chat, and the central authentication.

Are there any plans to support Lion with PC-Anywhere?  If so is there a timeframe?  If not, what is everyone else doing to get secure remote control integrated with CMS 7.1sp1b?

    Many thanks.

Unfortunately you are correct.  Because the PCA plugin was written as a PPC app (not a Universal, or Fat binary) it won't run (due to Apple removing the rosetta emulation layer). I would love to see PCA support in Lion, as the lack of support for it will be a huge issue.  I don't know of any way to do it from within the console aside from VNC.  Alternately you could use ARD....

Has there been any responses or movement from the Symantec side on support for modern Macintosh operating systems with PC Anywhere?

SP2 was released yesterday so it should be available when you start Symantec Installation Manager (SIM).
