We have a separate deployment in production of 7.1 SP2. Not touching this at this time, though a link to an article about directing the old clients to the new Install would be helpful later.

All test host servers are 2012 R2 (NS, Site1, SQL 2012). This is in a test envornment with a couple Windows clients and a couple Mac clients.

The main issue/cause was I got rambunctious and applied HF3 without reading the documentation on it's release date, then got even more stupid and rolled out agents as best I could causing several agent issues. It was suggested at that time to start fresh. I'm ready to do so with 7.6 as the goal. How do I remove the current test setup, as cleanly as possible, to start new with painfully gained knowledge?

I've already rolled out the client agent/sub-agent removal polices and that seems to have gone well. How do I handle the NS and Site server? SQL?

    Thanks for any input.

The easiest way would be to reimage the server or revert to its base OS snapshot, so that you have a guaranteed clean environment.

If thats not an option, then once all agenst and plugins have been removed from the clients, you can use SIM to remove the SMP and its solutions.  You can also do this via "Programs and Features" too.

I would then delete all Altiris rgeistry items (this is a good point for the clients too), and then reboot the server.

I personally would keep the old database and then install 7.6 new either with its default database name (rename the old one first) or with a different name.  This will allow you to have a clean db in order to use the old one as historical data or as a reference on how you did things in the past, as well as have the opportunity to upgrade the old one to the 7.6 schema.

Now, if all you are worried about is HF3, why dont you roll that back, and then upgrade to 7.6, unless you really wish to start with a clean 7.6 application and database?

I'll probably nuke and pave. This was an exercise to clean up the mess I made in a best practices manner, to remind me not to be that stupid ever again. Thanks for the post.
