Symantec Management Platform (Notification Server)

Hey All,

I have a quick question to guery the group with on alternate methods to get what i need done.

Environment:
NS 6.0 SP3 R11 - CMS for all non server OS's used for inventory, software delivery and patch management - 26 package servers(Server OS's) out in the field.


Adding a NS7 sp4 for Server Management Suite only.
The server guys want to be able to manage/monitor all servers out there (including our existing NS6 package servers).

I told them that the package servers will have to stay connected to the CMS install in order for the workstations to properly use the package servers. They are standing firm on wanting to monitor these servers.

Aside from giving in and having to setup some XP boxes at the remote sites just to be a Package Server. What options can be done if any, to get some kind of monitoring and inventory from these Package Servers into the NS7 SMS database?

Though it depends on what they want to monitor.  If they're just going to be running simple reports to check disk space, inventory, etc., you should be able to use Connector Solution to get the data on those machines from 6 to 7, though they won't really be able to do any sort of management with them through SMS 7 since they'll still be reporting to your NS6 infrastructure.
