In version 6

this was caused by the Application Metering Agent. I also see lots of these warnings, and have at pretty much every CMS install. With the App Metering being a plugin to the inventory (yet it's own install)  I would look at that as being the first culprit.

I'm hoping to bump this to

I'm hoping to bump this to the front, as I have this problem also. The log entry is fairly terse so I wouldn't know how to look at it as being a culprit one way or the other. Usually I've found that repairing individual components doesn't really clear up problems like this, so I'm hesitant to try that outright.

I have seen this on every single install

of CMS 7. Even with clients who don't have the application metering plug-in installed. There are no real helpful hints out there, and to be honest, other than being annoying, I didn't see it as a major issue, at least intially.  However, it could be masking a more serious issue, so I will see if support can take a look at it.

Did have the same problem

at one of my customers. After some long troubleshooting sessions with support it turned out that the ResourceRef is used for inventory forwarding in the 6 version. It is not supported anymore in 7 and it shouldn't be in the nse's anymore. The problem came (in our case) from Out of Band Management. The OOB team stated that it couldn't do any harm, it are only (annoying) log entries. Symantec is aware of the issue and it will be resolved in an upcoming release.
