    Hi,

I've installed the CMS7 and installed the agent at the workstations with the pcanywhere plugin, what i would like to know is how do i install only the pcanywhere quick connection on some stations i don't want to have the altiris agent, can i do that? and if I do that do i will still have the connections log? And also I noticed that on the server that has the CMS7 installed after the installation has installed the pcanywhere full, and how do i install also the full software i did not find at the console and also I've looked at the altiris knowledgebase.

of using PC Anywhere Solution is that it installs the plugin-agent AND the quick connect 'client' on each PC. Most people I've worked with don't want the quick connect. So, a short answer is 'what you what to do is not currently possible'.

If you have a valid PC Anywhere serial number, you should be able to access the PC Anywhere software (not solution) via Symantec File Connect. This will include the PC Anywhere Access server, and other components for which you are licensed.

As you have surmised, if  you use the stand alone software, it will not integrate with the Altiris based solution.

Initially I did not what QuickConnect on every device that had the plug-in installed, but I've completely changed my mind about this.  The most important part of pcA Solution for us was the centralized logging in the CMDB.  That works whether you use pcAConnect or the remote control page of the NS Console.  The majority of people that need remote control access don't need to be in the NS Console for anything else, so they use QuickConnect all the time.

If Symantec makes any change to this in the future I hope that they make QuickConnect an option.  If they remove it altogether based on user feedback I'm going to face a backlash from the users that have become so accustomed to it.
