CMS7/Software Portal - Internet Explorer 8 supported?

This issue has been solved. See solution.

I understand from KB47584 that IE8 is not supported in Symantec Management Platform 7.0 SP2 however if I'm understanding the article correctly that only pertains to the web console.  Therefore, I am asking if anyone knows if IE8 is supported by the Software Portal for CMS7 on the client's side?

Also, anyone know when IE8 will be fully supported by CMS7?

CMS 7 SP2

CMS 7 SP2 supports IE 8 in compatibility mode.
