Hello All,

I am new to symantec and need help. We are having three SEPM server and aroudn 15000 clients. But 15-20% clients are out of defination and didi not update. I need a command which can run at client side and then it will start pulling defination from SEPM server.

There is no command. Clients will check in based on their heartbeat setting and if content is available, they will download it. There is no way to schedule this or force a client to download. It is done automatically.

Ohh. But in my organization 15000 clients are spread across MPLS and VAST network. So clients are not getting updated automatically. In ideal seanario if client is out of defination then i need to copy recent defination (today's side is around 441 MB) to client. It is taking too much time and if link flaps then i need to copy it again. What should I do in order to update out of date clients automatically?

You can identify the reason why sep client not updating automatically ?

One of script are available for updating virus defination but it's working on SEP 12.1

Ok I will check the same. But is their any command from server where i will initiate force update to old defination clients and i can see the progress of the same.

No,It's no Command..

But  You can try to Select SEP client on SEPM console and run update Content.

Have you looked at the Group Update Provider (GUP)?

About the types of Group Update Providers

Yes, you can - just right click the whole group of your outdated clients in SEPM and select "Update Content" command. You will then be able to check on the monitors tab if the command was executed successfully on the clients.
