Error nbjm(pid=2484) NBU status: 96, EMM status: No media is available, unable to allocate new media for backup, storage unit has none available(96)
J'ai crée une police de sauvegarde mais je ne sais pas si elle est bonne. J'ai besoin d'aide pour savoir comment faires des sauvegardes journalières de mes données sur ces 2 cartouches qui contiennent des données?

How do daily backups on cartridges that contain data already.
Hello everyone,
I just bought Veritas Netbackup 6.5 and I do not control very well. In my tests, I managed to save data on two HP LTO3 Ultrium cartridges RW 800 GB
Now, I like daily backups of data on these cartridges because I have only these two cartridges for the moment. In addition when I try a manual backup I get the message Error 96:
Nbjm Error (pid = 2484) NBU status: 96, EMM status: No media est disponible, Unable to allocate new media for backup, storage unit Has none available (96)
I created a backup policy but I do not know if it is good. I need help knowing how to do daily backups of my data on these two cartridges that contain data?

Initially:
Check if the tapes are not full nor frozen nor suspended.
Also, I would suggest you compare the retention period for the images that are already on the tape with the retention period for the backups that you are trying to run - by default NetBackup will not mix retentions on tape (for good reason).
Plus check the volume pools that the tapes are assigned to matches that for the backup that's failing.

hello Andy, thanks you very much for your help.
i speak small english.
Please, before continue, let me ask you some questions:
1. How can i know the retention period of the images that are already on the tape?
2. How can i know the retention period of the backups i'm trying to do?
3. How can i check the volume pools that the tapes are assigned to matches that for the backup that's failing.?
1) Can look in the GUI under Media - there should be a column called Retention Period (if not you can change displayed columns by right-click/columns/layout & "show") or use bpmedialist -m media_id which will give a numeric value under the heading rl. This numeric value can be 'converted' to something a little more understandable in the GUI again under Host Properties/Master Servers/master server/Retentions Periods where the numeric value will equate to something like "1 month".
2) Compare the above with the value in the schedule of the job you are trying to run (In "Attributes" for the schedule)
3) Again, can look in the GUI under Media for the tape(s) concerned & compare that with the value in the Policy Attributes of the job or the Schedule Attributes.

Thanks You very much Andy, i have change the retention day now i can make a manual backup to the tape. i will tell you the result.
So can you help me to create a new policy of daily backing up in the 2 tapes: for example, i make a backup today with one tape and i backup with the other tape next day.
covering different days or backup 'windows' & ensure each schedule uses a different volume pool. One tape should be in each volume pool, (it will not be possible to move a tape from one volume pool to another whilst the tapes have images on them).

Thank you Andy. Please i need your help again:
Plesae, can you explain me step by step how to create 2 differents daily shedules in order to use 2 differents tapes. What i want is to backup today with one tape and backup tomorrow with the other tape. I have juste 2 tapes, i'm waiting for new tapes.
How can i erase the images on the 2 tapes in order to have 2 tapes without data.
bpexpdate -d 0 -m media_id
This will essentially expire all the images on the tape. It should then be unassigned thus allowing you to move (channge) the tape to a different volume pool.
Either create a new schedule within one policy & override policy volume pool for each per the 3rd picture above or you could create two separate policies with different volume pools per the 4th picture above. It really does depend on what you want to achieve.
As these are very basic things I would suggest you take the time to look through the Admin Guides

Dear Andy,
Thanks you very much for your help.
i have created 2 polycies and 2 volumes pools. Each policy have his own shedule and his own volume pool. i have put the each of the2 tape in one volume.
i'im testing and i will return to you if i have problem.
