File Share Encryption

The document TECH174563 indicates that Mac OS 10.8.5 is supported in release 10.3.1:

>Mac OS X 10.8.5 - Symantec Encryption Desktop 10.3.1  (Build 13100) through 10.3.2 - Any prior versions of Symantec Drive
>Encryption should not be used with this OS version.

However I have downloaded both 10.3.1 and 10.3.1 MP1 and the "Read me" document for both of these releases does NOT list 10.8.5 as supported:

• Compatibility with Apple Mac OS X 10.8.2, 10.8.3, and 10.8.4

  This release supports installation of Symantec Desktop Encryption on systems running Mac OS X 10.8.2, 10.8.3, and 10.8.4

I would like to confirm that I can in fact install whole disk encryption on a Mac OS 10.8.5 system - *running bootcamp* - using version 10.3.1 MP1.

Is this correct?

The documentation indicates that 10.3.1 supports boot camp, other than on OS 10.9, and 10.8.5 is listed by TECH174563 as supported. However I am a bit worried about the fact that neither the 10.3.1 nor the 10.3.1 MP1 releases actually include 10.8.5 in their list of supported OSes in their release notes.

Clarification?

I would rely on the KB TECH174563 as it is being updated more often.

So as you stated:

including the NOTE:

BootCamp will still be fully supported on Mac OS X 10.8 with 10.3.1 MP1.

So you should be able to install whole disk encryption on a Mac OS 10.8.5 system - *running bootcamp* - using version 10.3.1 MP1.

OK I will try it (after backing everything up!!)
