  • 1.  Compatibility with Surface Pro 3 / Error registering

    Posted Oct 16, 2014 05:18 PM

We are doing a Demo of the Symantec Endpoint Encryption product and I am having trouble getting the software running on a Surface Pro 3.  Most other devices have worked without an issue but this one is getting errors when trying to register the client administrators.  The windows event log is recording the error:  Event ID: 3001, and the details are "Failed to register client administrator "username'. Error -12368.  This error appears for all of the client administrator that I have configured and the Surface will not allow me to encrypt its drive, I presume because of this.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

Josh.symantec, good afternoon, I just wanted to check back in with you to see if you require any further assistance on this issue. In case needed, this item is currently under investigation with engineering and support isstanding by for an answer regarding "official support" for the surface Pro 3. In case needed, many customers have shown mixed results on this.

If you have any further questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to ask. Please mark this as the solution if this solves your problem

    Hello Josh -

We are running the Symantec Endpoint Encyrpitom Full Disk 8.2.1 MP13 on all of our Dell Latidudes without issue. We are starting to move to the MS Surface Pro 3 but seem to be runningn into the same error as Kyle with the SEE SW getting installed on the Surface Pro but getting error when registering.  Is there a fix for this?  I can sent you our configuration files if that helps.

    Any information greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

    Raquel

    Hi Josh.symantec and Raquel,

Could you please try installing SEE 11.0.0 MP2 version, on Surface Pro 3 and check if that helps, coz I have seen it working in some situaltion, however as Kyle mentioned "official support" is still be answered from the engineering.

Once we have it confirmed, will make sure to update it to this forum.

Any updates on this?  I just got a Surface Pro 3 in and get Error - 12368.  I am using SEE 11.0.1 client in autologon mode.  Per http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH227108 the keyboard is attached and Bitlocker is disabled. We are not using pre-boot authentication.
