  • 1.  Compliance inbound count increasing when there are no policies

My inbound compliance count on the dashboard has been incrementing when there is no inbound policy.  It only accounts for about 3.8%, but I can't determine why. No inbound and outbound content policies are enabled for my groups.  Any ideas why I see compliance activity on inbound?  v8.0.3

You must have one or more compliance policies enabled for Inbound.

Have you checked under Compliance tab on the Group Settings page (Administration > Groups > Edit Group > Compliance) to see if it has any compliance policies enabled for the groups?

On the Dashboard, when you click the Compliance link under Threats, you should be able to see which compliance policies were triggered.

When I click on the compliance summary on the dashboard for inbound everything is 0 even though it registers as 158/7.3% on the dashboard.  I checked the compliance policy setting under admin>group and there are no inbound compliance policies configured.

Does it show any policy names at the very bottom of that page?

No compliance policies are listed under the "Top 5 Compliance Policies" on the Dashboard even though there is count for them.  When you click the details under Compliance Summary, Top 5 Compliance Policies and Incident History state "No compliance policy violation detected."

I notce the virus totals don't match either, but that could be unscanable messages.

    OK, mystery solved.

It turns out the messages that are blocked due to entries in "Local Bad Sender Domains" are also counted as the Compliance Threat category.  Moreover, any messages blocked due to language detection feature are also counted under Compliance Threat category.

So if you have all your compliance policies disabled but any of those 2 features (Local Bad Senders and Language based blocking), then you may see the Compliance threat count increase if messages are blocked by those 2 features.
