Will some of you explain your best practice for identifying computers in Deployment Console that aren't named with the user that is on it? i.e. dept01, dept02, dept03, etc. It seems like only half or so actually show the "logged on user" and even then it is not possible to add that field to the columns and sort by it. This makes it a nightmare trying to find out someone's computer name without asking them. Our old managment suite was able to sort by the "computer descripion" field which has the users full name entered.

Thanks,
Stephen

The Helpdesk just asks them

The Helpdesk just asks them what computer they are using. We deploy BgInfo so the computer name is prominently displayed on the desktop for the user.

Nobody ever has the need to find a computer name based off the user that is on it?

In our eviroment, our

In our eviroment, our computer naming convention is fairly simple.  The first letter of the name tells what town it is in, followed by the building number and then the user's first initial and last name.  This has worked well in our enviroment because all we have to do is know the person's last name and then we can run a search for that name.
