  • 1.  Computer not moved to correct Active Directory OU

    Hello everyone

We deploy Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard & Enterprise images. The Computeraccount is created before the deployment.
Deploying W2K8 R2 Standard works without any problems. Image is deployed, Sysprep was successfull and the computeraccount is in the correct OU. If I deploy W2K8 R2 Enterprise on the same computer, it won't move the computeraccount to the sepcified OU. Computeraccount is moved from the correct OU to the default "Computers" OU.

In the Deployment Console, the OU is correctly entered for this computer, in AD all information for the object are correct. The only wrong thing is that the computeraccount is not in the correct OU.

The computer image was created in a workgroup, not a domain. They use both the standardvista.xml Sysprep file.

    Any suggestion?

    Thanks

    Hi Kevin,

I have seen a pretty similar behavior in a slightly different scenario, but maybe this helps a bit further...

When manually renaming and joining a machine into the AD into a specific OU using a single event, this always worked fine using Windows 2000/XP/2003, but since we have migrated clients to Windows 7, this will no longer work. You need to have two events to rename and join it to a specific OU. For this we have a case open with Symantec to clarify whether this is by design or not.
