At Computer Startup Task not running

We have a package delivery task scheduled using a shared schedule named System Startup. The scheduled time is "at system startup". The task never runs. In the task properties, under Status, ist just says "Pending - select Details to modify this schedule". I've also ticked the box

On the client the task never runs or shows up in the task list, nothing ever shows in the log. Ticking the box Override Maintenance Window doesn't help, and we do not have any maintenance windows defined.

I can run the task on other schedules or using Quick Delivery without any problems.

This is SMP 7.1 SP1, the clients are a mox of Windows XP Pro SP3 and Windows 7 Ent SP1.

Sounds like they're already running 7.1

If they're already running 7.1, that sounds like it wouldn't be a known issue.  The KB suggests it was already fixed.

I'd recreate as a policy

I'd recommend recreating this as a Managed Software Delivery policy.  Is there a reason why this should be a package delivery?  It seems best to create a software resource, provide a detection rule, create a policy, provide a compliance schedule, and provide a remediation schedule.  If your compliance and remediation schedules are in the past (e.g. scheduled time 11/15/2011 00:00), 'Run Once ASAP,' and have a scheduled window (check every 4 hours from 00:00 to 23:59), this will provide immediate remediation at startup.

Is that a useful workaround?

If I'm reading this right, it

If I'm reading this right, it sounds like Shared Schedule of "At Computer Startup" is probably referencing the NS computer itself. I don't have that in my 7.1 SP1, maybe another solution installed that for its own purposes. But yes, you cannot do "at startup" schedules with tasks, you'll have to create a managed software delivery policy like mclemson says, except there you can select to do a compliance check at system startup and remediate immediately to do it how you are wanting to.
