Configurating Storage Foundations Basic and MSCS

For a proof-of-concept project I aim to build a cross-site Microsoft Cluster using Storage Foundation Basic and MSCS.

Each host will be connected to a the same two arrays and presented the same disks from each array.

The configuration items are:

EMC CX3-80 (one on each site with 4 LUNs from each array presented to each host)

Brocade 4900 swithces (2 fabrics, each ISL'd cross-site)

1 x Server on each site running: Windows Server 2003 SP2 and PowerPath 5.0.1

Is it easier to configure StorageFoundations first and then install MSCS followed by the StorageFoundations MSCS plugin?

I'm struggling to see how I can configure the cluster (i.e. how do you create a cross-site quorum) without StorageFoundations first being installed.

Does anyone have a procedure for this or had any experience with this in the past?

Thanks,

Bob_Skew

One other thing - I take it that an additional license must be purchased for the MSCS support option?

Thanks

In my opinion you have first to configure Storage Foundation and then MSCS. If you could use 3 servers instead of 2, then you could configure quorum as a Majority Node Set.

MSCS Option needs an additional license. Storage Foundation basic doesn't work with MSCS cluster.
