  • 1.  Configuration Server operation failed error

Recently installed latest eval copy of Ghost Solution Suite on a WIN2003 Server, and everything was running reasonably well (imaging, restoring images on our test system working fine) with plenty of time to purchase (Nov 8th, 2006 deadline). Then today it started saying that it couldn't connect to the Configuration Server? The service is started and everything appears to be running fine? Tried restarting the server. The client even connects to the console, etc. But when executing restore task, it continues to give the error. Nothing was changed to my knowledge? Is therer a limit to the number of times I can push back image to a particular client as I've been kicking the tires hard? We need a solution like this for large-scale deployments, and our customers are looking to migrate possibly away from drive-image...Pleas help!

Can you check which version number it is in the console's Help/About menu, exactly? The main Symantec website still seemed to only offer the v8.0 of the console and cloning trialware last I checked.

There is no limit like that in the trialware, no.

Hmm. This is from the DOS components, presumably?

I certainly can't think of any obvious reason why it would suddenly just stop (although a few people have reported exactly that due to firewall updates in the past, I wouldn't have expected this to have affected you). How many clients were you testing with, and were all affected by this at once?

Just to try and get some more background, how are the client machines getting their IP addresses (statically configured or DHCP), is the console correctly identifying their network cards, and are they on the same subnet as the server?
