This issue has been solved. See solution.

Hello

I am setting up a Backup Cluster via FT. However the startar is not started via FT but via LAN.

What could be?

Client version: 7.5.0.6
Master version: 7.5.0.7

Registering the SAN client virtual cluster name is okay.

Nbftclnt service is online and configured on both nodes of the cluster.

Tks.

What is the OS on the "backup cluster" ?

You say "backup cluster" but Nbftclnt is the service running on  a Netbackup client. I guess you have a clustered Netbackup client or am I wrong in that assumption ?

Assumption is the mother of all mess ups.

And you Netbackup FTL server is either a Solaris or Linux box ?

Does the "ARCHIVE Python" appear on the client device list ?

Please provide the output from these two command from the Netbackup FTL server:

nbftconfig -listclients -verbose
nbftconfig -listtargets -verbose

FTL server support is documented in NBU 7.X HCL page 212:
http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH76495

Post Updated:

Above look OK.

Verify in device manager under removable devices if tape drives named "archive python" show up.

If they do try re-starting nbftclnt service and re-try the backup operation.

If not, use a sansurfer (qlogic) or alike to verify if the FC HBA can see the devices.

If devices are not showing on a FC level re-check zoning.

Best Regards

Nicolai
