Hi

I am trying add a FT Media Server using the nbftconfig.exe but I am getting an error. The error message reads:

Failed to read server configuration; Media Server might be down

EXIT error: database system error

EXIT status = 220

The command I am entering is "nbftconfig.exe -addserver -Me SERVER02 -M SERVER02 -state active". I am running Netbackup 7.0.1 on a Windows Server 2008 R2 server.

Appreciate some help on this.

Thanks

MK

Which OS is Media server 'SERVER02'?

Windows is not supported as FT media server - only Solaris SPARC and Linux.

It is running windows server 2008 r2. I was trying add my master server as a ft media server however I didn't realise that it is not supported. Basically I want to configure netbackup to use ft. At the moment everything is backed over the LAN and takes lot of time. Do I just need configure San clients?

Thanks

for SAN client you should need FT media server..so you can not do this with Window media server.

You need an FT media server to config clients as SAN clients.

You can check FT Media Server compatibility in NBU 7.x HCL as well as SAN Client and Fibre Transport Guide .
