In our naming convention, our workstations hostnames are building#-room#-last7serial# such as 70-F100-6241KMD. We are currently using the %serialnum% token and then individually re-configuring them. Is there an easier way?

Automatically gives correct names

In most workstations you can place the name as the asset tag in th bios and use that as the name of the computer.

You naming convention is

You naming convention is holding you back. The requirement of building and room is going to be the issue. There will always be a great deal of user interface. Either up front with a database or at the desk. I agree with a pervious comment that to simplify, you need to ditch the convention and move to the serial number. The info can be pulled for the bios and will be unique. With a simple script the whole thing is automated.
