  • 1.  configuring SEP to load from a local folder

    Using SEP 12.1 under XP.

How to configure in Settings.Hosts.LiveUpdate a path to a local folder?

Adding the following block (index nr 0 is a web server) does not seem to work:

    HOSTS\1\ACCESS=E:\SEP
    HOSTS\1\ACCESS2=E:\SEP
    HOSTS\1\IS_SYMANTEC=NO
    HOSTS\1\LOGIN=
    HOSTS\1\NAME=CDROM
    HOSTS\1\PASSWORD=
    HOSTS\1\SUBNET=0
    HOSTS\1\SUBNETMASK=0
    HOSTS\1\TYPE=LAN

    if get (in "c:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection\CurrentVersion\Data\Lue\Logs\Log.Lue" ) something like

Server selection failed for server E\. UNC protocol.
    * UNC: Wrong username/password, error (67). Will try NULL credentials.
    * Could not connect to the network resource. Error (67)

I know that I can also use "c:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection\CurrentVersion\Data\Lue\Downloads" but I would need to use some other folder.

Its not possible. You wont be able to change the Liveudpate path

    HOSTS\1\ACCESS=E:\SEP
    HOSTS\1\ACCESS2=E:\SEP
    HOSTS\1\IS_SYMANTEC=NO
    HOSTS\1\LOGIN=
    HOSTS\1\NAME=CDROM
    HOSTS\1\PASSWORD=
    HOSTS\1\SUBNET=0
    HOSTS\1\SUBNETMASK=0
    HOSTS\1\TYPE=LAN

These are the settings where it will try to connect and get updates from .
it can be internet using http and ftp or from Liveupdate Administrator

You cannot udpate sep from a shared drive or change the virus definition download location

Thank you for your answer Rafeeq.

Too bad this is no longer supported.
It was supported using SAV, but that what some time ago, in the good days when software was still working smiley

You were right, You could edit liveupdate.hst distribute to clients and it would work.

You need to use Liveupdate Administrator now download updates and then point the url to the clients.

    Example is here.
