Hi Zahid,   It would seem

Hi Zahid,

It would seem your upgrade was not successful. Did you take time to review all the documentation in the upgrade portal?

http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH74584

Its not been more than a few hours since you posted that you didn't have access to the 7.x media, and now you've already upgraded.

Examine the installation log on the following location:
%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Symantec\NetBackup\InstallLogs\

An installation log file provides detailed installation information and shows whether any errors occurred.
Note: When you perform a remote installation to multiple computers, this option only lets you view the log for the local computer. To view the logs of the other computers where you installed NetBackup, you must log on to each of those computers.
Search the installation log for the following error indications:
■    Strings that include Return Value 3.
■    Starting with NetBackup 7.0, important log messages are color coded as follows:
Yellow = warning. Red = error.

Also see this note on backing out of a failed upgrade http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH76643

Riaan Badenhorst

ITs easy ;)

I will admit that I have not

I will admit that I have not looked at the documentation recently but in the past the NetBackup admin console (GUI) did not support multiple levels of NetBackup.  I think you are forced to install both versions if you need to administer mulitple NetBackup versions from the same workstation.

have a good day,

Please follow Riaan's advice

Please follow Riaan's advice :

https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/forums/con...

"Also see this note on backing out of a failed upgrade http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH76643 "

Perform backout steps and ensure that 6.5.5 is up and running.

Then take your time to carefully go through the documentation and TechNotes, do all the preparation steps as per the Upgrade Portal (including running nbcc to verify catalog consistency), download documentation (http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH126327  ) - especially the Installation Guide and read the Upgrade section.

Only then attempt the upgrade again.

Installation logs: Please do

Installation logs: Please do the following from cmd:

echo %temp%

(this is what I got:)

C:\Users\mvdberg\AppData\Local\Temp

In this folder I found my NBU installation log:

NetBackup Install.20101128.202614.log

When you install NBU on W2008, please remember to right-click Browser.exe and 'Run as Administrator'

Thanks all for your kind

Thanks all for your kind support. My problem is solved. There was no issue with the upgrade too.

The solution may be strange but it worked. After upgrading my Veritas Netbackup Server the NIC cable was unplugged. I just plugged and my Netbackup Console start opening properly.
